How this got started

So like a lot of people I went to college and got a degree. From a young age I lays enjoyed helping others most of the time at the expense of helping myself. However when I graduated I found myself in a position where no one would hire me due to flight risk. (Fear from employers that I would leave soon after training for a better more profitable position. ) having graduated in December then getting engaged on valentines day the world was looking up with a world of potential. Then as job prospects started fading and the realization that wisconsin is a truly awful economy since 2008. Things started going down hill.
A month after our announced engagement my fiance left me and within 2 days I moved back into my parents basement.  Truly living the dream.
At this point over 300 resumes out the door but little to no responce. I started to consider other starting job options.  Clearly if I am a flight risk let's look at jobs that that's not a factor. I was looking into the peace corps and americorps and I have had friends in both so I started to dig deeper and was going to apply for a peace corp posting in Ukraine strangely happy I didnt. Then found the FEMA corps.
FEMA being a government agency that interests me as a political science and public administration double major. I didn't hesitate to fill out an application for all 5 campuses secretly hoping for denver to pick me.
In a few weeks time my references all filled out their forms and submitted and I submitted my application. It was about 3 weeks later I started hearing back. First from the California campus then the Denver campus to schedule interviews. The first interview with California went great and I was excited to even be considered.  But the next interview with denver was at really the only time I had available durring a week long volunteer opportunity with the boys and girls brigade in Waupaca wi. This interview was different.  I wasn't excited I was pumped up, confidence high and truly ready to Babe Ruth style send it out of the park.  And I did. After about a half hour of talking back and fourth with the interview team which was surprising in size about 5 or 6 on the other side of the conference call they stated that if I had any questions please contact them and they will let me know either way what their decision was by August 6th.
